Wren Marsh Tidal Wetland Restoration

W2r helped determine the best strategy for reconnecting Wren Marsh with tidal and fluvial processes. Our process involved UAS imagery acquisition, ecological characterization, and concept design development. High-resolution drone imagery captured wetland complexes, variable aquatic habitat units, and marsh vegetation succession patterns. We determined the rate of conversion of mudflat to emergent vegetation and estimated vegetation succession patterns from the restoration effort.

We enjoyed working closely with project partners to understand their vision for the site and the need to coordinate with adjacent landowners. Communications with landowners benefited from the development of an accessible StoryMap which placed the preferred design alternative in a historical context and explained how the project may indirectly impact adjacent properties.
