Elijah Bristow State Park Floodplain Restoration

Elijah Bristow State Park (EBSP) is of significant ecological importance, serving as historic floodplain refugia for native salmon populations. Located on the Middle Fork Willamette River, downstream of Dexter Dam, flows at the site have been tempered and the sediment load drastically reduced.

W2r is helping the Middle Fork Willamette Watershed Council (MFWWC) and U.S. Forest Service (USFS) with its restoration efforts at EBSP. Floodplain restoration design elements include a confluence with a major tributary, which delivers natural flows and sediment loads to the reach. The restoration will result in a maximally-connected floodplain with multiple braided flow paths over time.

The project has an extensive stakeholder consortium with whom W2r has met throughout the project’s development.
