Colin Thorne, PhD

University of Nottingham

Colin brings several decades of distinguished experience in fluvial geomorphology and flood risk management in the USA, UK, and many other countries spread across five continents. As a research affiliate of W2r Colin seamlessly unites technical and stakeholder aspects of restoration projects. His work ranges from the North Fork Toutle River where he assessed the effect of grade building engineered log jams overwhelmed by sediment load from the 1980 eruption of Mt. St. Helens to the Mekong estuary where he reviewed potential impacts on sediments, morphology and nutrient balance of proposed Chinese dams.
